I would like to talk about
the “piezoelectric effect”
which can be used to produce electricirty from the mechanical pressure. Piezoelectricity
is the electric charge that accumulates in certain solid materials (such as
crystals, certain ceramics, and biological matter such as bone, DNA and various
proteins) in response to applied mechanical stress. The word piezoelectricity
means electricity resulting from pressure.
Research has proven that
piezoelectricity can be used in roads and floors to generate energy. In
fact, there are several cities around the world that now have piezoelectric
streets and floors. In 2008, a piezoelectric floor was installed in
the Tokyo railroad station. As passengers walk on the station’s floor,
kinetic energy is generated. This energy is then used to power the ticket
gates and station signage. Toulouse, France has also experimented with
piezoelectricity. Instead of using the technology in flooring, the French
installed the piezoelectric sensors in sidewalks. The stored energy for
above passersby is then used to power street lamps.
Piezoelectric is the
electricity which can be used in Railway stations, Metro stations, Bus stops,
Malls and more public places were people gather and walk around, so that more
mechanical pressure is applied. It can be installed in all these places, so
that electricity can be produced. Certainly with the use of piezoelectric
effect we can save lot of energy, in our country as already there is a scarcity
of electricity. As we all know that we have great number of people who commute daily,
so large population can work in our favour. Already solar energy and other types
of energy are making good contribution to the society, similarly piezoelectric
effect can be used at least in some major places to contribute to the energy
system of our country, as use of coal to produce the electricity can be
reduced.
I request to all the Energy companies to start using
this process at smaller level so that we enlarge our area and produce maximum
electricity.
Please let me know if any
more information is required.
Thank You
